UPDATE: The folks at Unreality TV (blessings on them!) now have a cast list that connects actors with characters, so I'm going to go ahead and put all that here. Also, I should mention that the series is now set to run on BBC Two. I believe I had said BBC Four originally.
Matthew Rhys as John Jasper
Tamzin Merchant as Rosa Bud
Freddie Fox as Edwin Drood
Rory Kinnear as Rev. Septimus Crisparkle
Alun Armstrong as Hiram Grewgious
Julia McKenzie as Mrs. Crisparkle
David Dawson as Bazzard
Ron Cook as Durdles
Sacha Dhawan as Neville Landless
Amber Rose Revah as Helena Landless
Ian McNeice as Mayor Sapsea
Janet Dale as Miss Twinkleton
Ellie Haddington as Princess Puffer
Alfie Davis as Deputy

Just when I was starting to think we were never going to hear anything about this miniseries ever again, we've got some names! Courtesy of the Telegraph, here they are:
Matthew Rhys as John Jasper
Tamzin Merchant as Rosa Bud
Freddie Fox as Edwin Drood
Rory Kinnear, Julia McKenzie, and Alun Armstrong are also mentioned, but not the roles they're playing. I'll let you know as soon as I find out.
Thoughts? Comments? Questions? (I know not all of you have read the book or seen any adaptations, so if you want to know anything about any of the characters, feel free to ask.)
ETA: Add Ron Cook and Ian McNeice to that list, according to the UK Press Association. (I've been hunting online for the original press release that this is all based on, to see if it has a complete list, but no luck so far).

Julia McKenzie and Alun Armstrong are about the only names I recognise, but Armstrong has been in many great Dickens adaptations, so that's a good sign! And this casting list prompted me to start reading Edwin Drood for the first time. ^_^

That's great, Marian! Hope you enjoy it! :-)
Ron Cook was Mr. Chivery (the elder) in "Little Dorrit."

I think they got it right on the dot for Helena!
