I just saw The Dark Knight Rises. Yes, of course I recited the final words of A Tale of Two Cities (silently) with the police commissioner. (You had to ask?) And of course I noticed the resemblance between Bane's mob and the Paris mob. But I think I spotted another Dickensian parallel that I haven't seen anyone else mention yet. Major spoilers below the cut . . .
A little girl whose family was wronged, who was hidden away, and who comes back seeking vengeance? Can you say "Madame Defarge"? They even both have first names that start with T!

Oh, good point!

Oh, and also, it was pretty fun to see "Guppy" playing "Stryver." :-)

Heh. Yeah, and I see the Virgin Mary in my toast this morning. :)
JUUUUUUST KIDDING, Gina. I haven't yet seen DKR; hope to when we go out to visit my son in Louisville later this summer. He's a big film fan; following in the steps of his dad who once was an aspiring critic but got divinely "sidetracked" by, of all things, a son and a daughter! History, as they say, has a way of repeating itself. What a thought; at once both exhilarating and terrifying!

Okay, my cynical friend, just wait till you see it. :-) If you don't spot a resemblance between Talia and Therese, I'll eat my hat. Well, I'll have to buy a hat first, but then I'll eat it.
