I've been looking this for years: Disney's Mickey's Christmas Carol is being released on DVD. (This article says that it's been released before, but I never heard about it; Disney's always releasing so many things that it's hard to keep track.) I believe this was my first exposure to the story -- probably my first exposure to Dickens in any form, come to think of it -- and I used to watch it obsessively on the old Beta machine on which we'd taped it off the TV. I realize this is a highly controversial opinion, but Goofy is my favorite Marley's ghost of all time.
In other Christmas Carol news, the train pulls into my local station this Tuesday! It was originally going to get here in October, but I guess they must be running ahead of schedule.
And get this: Both of these events, the DVD release and the train's arrival, are taking place on my birthday.
How's that for a Dickensidence?*
*A word I just coined. If this kind of thing is going to keep happening, as seems likely, we need a term that's a little easier to use than Dickens-like coincidence.
I am so looking forward to the train. I even contacted Disney to make sure that I would be able to get on the train with my wheelchair. I will report as soon as the train arrives in October.
I also wanted to tell you that Masterpiece (pbs.org) has Little Dorrit in its entirety on its website to celebrate all the Emmy wins.

We've had Mickey's Christmas Carol on DVD for a couple of years now. It's on a "Walt Disney Classic Cartoons" disc ... this one is called Classic Holiday Stories.

Mickey's Christmas Carol has been released to DVD at least twice before.
A 1.66:1 widescreen version was included in the two-disc set Walt Disney Treasures: Mickey Mouse in Living Color Volume 2, along with a vintage featurette on the making of Mickey's Christmas Carol, in 2004.
And a 1.33:1 "fullscreen" version was included on the one-disc set Classic Cartoon Favorites: Volume 9: Classic Holiday Stories, along with The Small One and Pluto's Christmas Tree, in 2005.
I don't have the second version, but reportedly, it actually includes more visual information at the top and bottom of the screen than the widescreen version does, albeit at a lower resolution. So while the widescreen version is probably preferable, at least the "fullscreen" version doesn't crop out any of the picture.
I have very fond memories of watching Mickey's Christmas Carol when I was a kid -- and now that I have kids of my own, I have begun to watch it on DVD with them, too. It's a fun holiday ritual.
