I will always say that most of what I was forced to read in school was great literature. I'm glad I knocked so many classics out of the way (this was before Dickens and Hawthorne were being pushed aside to make room for Twilight and Harry Potter). I did have a few teachers that didn't instill a lot of respect for those works, however. This might be a possible reason: For every kid who loves reading, there are many more in the class who only do it because they are forced to; for every one teacher that teaches a book well, there are a few teachers who are just being forced to teach it.
