It's not definite, but we MAY have our Pip and Miss Havisham for the big-screen Great Expectations. Two actors are currently in talks for the roles. And they are . . .
Jeremy Irvine and Helena Bonham Carter.
Thoughts? Has anyone actually seen Irvine in anything? Sounds like he's pretty much a newcomer. As for Carter, well, she's not Maggie Smith . . . but I can live with it. She does like to gravitate toward the spooky, and by all accounts, spooky's what they're going for here. This just might work.
Oh, and what's this about Rowan Joffe doing the script? I thought David Nicholls wrote it. Maybe Joffe is doing rewrites, but if it's as good as people have been saying, I wonder why they'd bring in someone else to do rewrites.
Ooh, I think Helena Bonham Carter could make a very deliciously creepy and eccentric Miss Havisham.

Never seen Irvine in anything, but it's usually a good sign when they cast lesser-known actors. :) I think he looks the part, too.

I completely agree - I think Helena Bonham Carter would be amazing! I've never seen Irvine in anything either, but he looks like he could do a good job.

When I first saw Irvine I thought he looked a little too handsome, but upon staring at him for a minute he actually seems to have a roughness that would suit Pip well.
*approves*
However, I'm not so sure about Helena Bonham Carter. I like her but it seems like she's been in everything lately.
