Good girl! It'll be worth it once you get into the plot. :) As you may remember from his spotlight in our group fic, Pecksniff is a funny character.

Considering all I've heard about Pecksniff and his antics, I was intrigued to see that he was introduced with a prolonged silence, being too stunned to speak after falling down the steps. Charles Dickens, Master of Misdirection. :-)

Good choice. It really is a fantastic book once you start making headway in it. Plus, the American section is always funny to read through. Ha ha ha. Easier to understand what "everyone" was so offended by...

Mmmm . . . we'll see if you finish it, though. Took me three tries, and after the third (successful) try, I wasn't sure it was worth it, except for completeness's sake. Good luck!
