Over at Birth.Movies.Death., Kalyn Corrigan has written a tribute to Miss Havisham, "the ultimate vengeful . . ." -- er, well, just go read the article! Here's a short sample: "There’s something soothing about the sadness that Miss Havisham allows herself to feel. There’s something human in it. Something we could use more of in today’s hardened world."

An excellent article, and one that I am certain I would have enjoyed even more thoroughly, if not for the glaring error at the beginning.
I know I'm going to come off sounding like something of a modern day Thomas Gradgrind here, but gosh darn it, I am a bit of a stickler for the facts. Dickens facts, anyway.
Miss Havisham received the letter from Compeyson which broke off the marriage, at twenty minutes to nine. Not, as Ms. Corrigan states, "Precisely 9:20 A.M."

Jerry, you're right, and I should have noted that. I must have skimmed that part and missed it!

The article is too sympathetic to Pip. He sought Estella on appearances and didn't see that Biddy was the one he should love....
