Dickens and the Ghost Club

Just in time for Halloween, The Paris Review has an article about the various iterations of The Ghost Club and the famous writers who were members at different times. Dickens was a founding member of the original Ghost Club, though a skeptic on the subject; despite his own gift for writing ghost stories, he "was always trying to find ordinary reasons for extraordinary happenings." R.I.P. Roy Dotrice

The prolific British actor played Charles Dickens onstage and on television (Dickens of London), and also played Fagin in the 1979 revival of Oliver! Dotrice passed away Monday at age 94.

Dickens (and others) off-Broadway

Scott Carter's play The Gospel According to Thomas Jefferson, Charles Dickens and Count Leo Tolstoy: Discord, which we've covered here before, is now running off-Broadway through October 22. The New York Times has a review.
