Dickens and science

The Charles Dickens Museum is about to open a new exhibition called "Charles Dickens: Man of Science," focusing on Dickens's long-neglected interest in the subject. Museum curator Frankie Kubicki is quoted in Museum Crush as saying,"For Dickens, science mattered when it transformed lives: curing disease or cleaning streets, or opening up new vistas of wonder in a humdrum world." Smithsonian Magazine has also covered the exhibition, which will run through November 11. Dickens in Syria

In this interview with Radio Times, Ayeesha Menon talks about her new radio play that updates A Tale of Two Cities and places it in modern Syria. The first part of A Tale of Two Cities: Aleppo and London will air tomorrow on BBC Radio 4. We Americans will be able to hear it here, shortly after the broadcast.

The former Dr. Who is set to play Mr. Micawber, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which based its story on tweets from director Armando Iannucci. (Strike one for me! I had guessed that was Hugh Laurie's role.)
