The Utah actor portrayed Dickens in his one-man show, An Evening with Charles Dickens, for 56 years. I don't know if that's a record, but it's impressive! Bennett passed away on December 31 at age 90.
Add one more to the list of Oliver updates and remakes! Oliver: Lagos to London, an adaptation by Ayeesha Menon, tells the story of an Oliver-like Nigerian orphan. It starts airing on BBC Radio 4 on Sunday, and will be available globally on BBC Radio iPlayer and the BBC Sounds app.
The BBC and FX confirm that they're eager for more Dickens adaptations from Steven Knight, who penned the recent Christmas Carol. I can only say that I hope the forthcoming versions manage to be a little less grim and joyless.
